Dec. 6th, 2011 03:27 amilea.livejournal.comI'd like to mix it up here in craftgrrl. Here's some ideas I'd like some feedback on from you all.
I know a lot of us craft for charities. I for one do knit your bit and I was thinking it would be really neat if the community as a whole (no one *has* to participate though) voted on and adopted a charity or cause and crafted for it. (and then of course posted those crafts!)
Craft themes. I know that I for one sometimes need a kick in the pants to get my crafty flow going. I was thinking that maybe some of you are like that. What would you think about voting on and then having a monthly theme to try (once again no forced participation). The themes could be something as abstract as "purple stuff" or as descriptive as "hair things involving giraffes". The themes would be something we definitely would vote on.
Featured tutorials/craft a-longs. A lot of you guys write some pretty awesome tutorials. I was thinking that once a month (maybe even more than that?) we could have a contest where people submit their tutes and we vote on them. The winner would get a a place of honor for a month on our homepage, a special tag applied to their post and bragging rights. Maybe we could even have a craft along involving the tutorial.

Dec. 6th, 2011 01:48 pminna68.livejournal.comI found myself in a posession of 10 fabric books from the upscale furniture store. And finally... It took me 8 months, but actually could be done in a couple weeks. This is probably my first and last quilt, but - I am pretty proud of it, the craftmenship does leav room for improovement. Even, "quilt" is not my style, this whole room is in "Victorian era", so we are going to use it as a bed spread (it is a guest's room). The best part - I have couple more books and going to make some pillows.
