Pillows and Panels from a flat sheet?

I have a couple of tapestries that I bought from Urban Outfitters. I'd like to turn one into a couple of big throw pillows for my futon and the other I want to turn into window panels. The question is how? They are both the size of a full flat sheet. I have no experience in sewing, I have no sewing machine (except for a handi-stitch--ugh), and I don't really know how to make panels or pillows (although I'm sure pillows are easy). I also don't have the $ to pay someone else to do it for me.

Suggestions? Patterns? Anything? Please help me!
