knitting question

craftgrrlwould it be a good idea to buy one of those 'learn to knit' kits that have you make like...a scarf and a hat. it gives you all the yarn, needles, detailed info.
cuz. well. ive never knitted, ever. my great gramma crochets alot, but shes too old to teach me now. and i kind of want to learn to knit. but i dunno where to even start, because im a total moron. i need like. detailed instructions when i start something like that.
um. oh. i did knit at one point i think. it was some barbie knitting kit that had plastic loops and all this drama.
i think i made a tube that was an inch tall and claimed it was a dress =/
anyway. any info you have on starting out knitting and the best way to go about it would be nice. and. i know NOTHING. to me its sticks and yarn =/
