scarf pattern

hello. christmas is fast approaching and although i already have my mother's gifts, her birthday is right after christmas so i want to get a start on those gifts too. i would like to make her a scarf. i bought a nice ecru/natural looking yarn yesterday but i want to make her a nice feminine scarf. i don't think she would enjoy one of those skinny scarves but if anyone has a nice pattern for a woman's scarf that's not boring and plain please pass it along to me! thank you!
btw i can knit and crochet but i would prefer a crochet pattern.
