Guy Lip Balms?

I've been making homemade balms for a while now, and I'm loving it :) My brother likes to use them too, because he says they really help his chapped lips. The problem though is that they look really glossy on, so he only wears them at home.

So my question is: What would you suggest to use to make the balms more "Guy Friendly"? I've seen places like Little Shop of Beauty or My Lip Stuff that have guy friendly balms that have no shine. I'm afraid that if I make it more waxier and use less oil, then it will be tough to put on and feel gross.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated :)
