craftgrrl | Altered clothing, collage/assemblage style clothing made from vintage pieces (Reply)

I have recently noticed people going to local vintage/thrift stores and altering clothing. I love to alter books and assemblage art work. I found a website under http://www.annlivyoung.com/realdealenterstore.html

She makes jewelry, clothing, scarves, etc. using the same type of artistic no rhyme or reason collage type method. The problem I have is that I can't afford her art work/clothing. Does anyone out there know of any books,designers, or links that I can learn how to alter used clothing or recreate items using vintage/used clothing the way Ann Liv does?

I have examined her blazer,chicken and Irish skirt, rapunzel scarf, and underwear bag and although it seems that ANYTHING GOES..TEAR off a blazer arm and add a new one, there appears to be a technique and style.
