Painting terra cotta planters

craftgrrlI want to paint my terra cotta pots (make them look snazzy) in preparation for plant time. What kind of paint/sealant would I use? Would acrylic crack and peel when wet? I need something that can withstand frequent watering and the elements, but not hurt the plants. (I have googled this, but maybe I am looking in the wrong places. Most websites don't mention what type of paint to use.) Anyone have experience with this?
