Knit checkered hat & crocheted scarf
Mar. 15th, 2004 11:53 amI knit a really cute hat for my baby and then learned to crochet and made him a matching scarf.

My crochet job was... okay. I picked up and dropped a few stitches in the first half, but had it figured out by the second half. I made it way too big and too long, but it's cute anyway. I'll probably make him another one and give this one to his older brother.
I love this hat. It's got great shaping, especially for boys. I'm going to use the pattern a lot, sometimes without the checks. The pattern is here.
Here's one of just the hat, which shows the hat better.

My baby actually really loves this hat. He likes to play peek-a-boo with it.

As a side note, I have to say— it's his first birthday today.
