I just really felt like telling you all about my Nan (My grandmother from my father's side).
I think that she is such an amazing woman.

When she was in school and about to graduate, her class had to make their own dresses. Each day they would work on the sewing machine in class. She was sick of waiting for the girls ahead of her to get done, so she started bringing her material home. She finished her dress before anyone else. The teacher didn't think that she had done it herself, so she made her pull the whole dress apart and re-do it. So she did, and she still finished before anyone else. She won this huge sewing kit with tons of needles and thread and patterns. Some company wanted her to work for them, making clothing for young girls.
Her father didn't want her to do it, because he always thought that she thought of herself as better then everyone else. So he wouldn't let her do anything to actually better herself.

But she continued making clothing, and selling them on the side to make a little money for herself.
She's been knitting and crocheting ever since she was just a young girl.

Now, she is blind, has bad arthritis, and cries every time she tries to stand up and walk. But she still knits little baby outfits to give to charity. Outfits for pre-mature babies, and ones for older babies who's mothers can't afford to buy them any clothes.

I just think she is so inspiring. I'm trying to learn how to knit and sew and all of that good stuff now. I want to craft for a good cause like she does.
