I never noticed this, so i'm sure other people haven't either, and I know some of you girls will find it useful. On your 'Personal Info' page, there's an option you can check that says 'Use image placeholders on your friends page', which means lj turns them into a link so you don't have to wait for them to load, you can just pick and choose which ones to look at. You can also choose to use it on all pictures, or just on ones over a certain size. I know there are lots of gals like me on dial-up or who hate having their friends page all screwed up because of big pictures, and this is a picture heavy community.
