decorating a guitar

hey have any of you ever decorated a guitar or seen anyone that has? i got a decent guitar at a really good price, but it was a little beat up in a few places. so i was wondering if anyone would have any ideas of how i could decorate it or cover up the places that aren't too pretty? i know its not necessary, but just for aesthetics i'd like to add my own touch to it. let me know if anyone has ideas! thanks!!
