Nothing new here...
May. 12th, 2004 12:16 amSure, you've seen them before. But these are the first ones I've ever done and they are SO MUCH FUN! What am I talking about? Record Bowls!
I wrote on the pictures what I used to shape them.

I tried to make a cool bracelet:

I'm modeling the best one, which is circled in the above picture:

How I did it:
Heated oven to 300. Placed record on top of something and put it all on a cookie sheet. Heated in oven for 5 minutes or so. Took out and manipulated record if necessary. Removed from object. Done.
What I learned:
~ Warm vinyl can easily be cut with scissors.
~ If the record doesn't want to come off of the object, just put it back in the oven for about 30 seconds and it will be flexible enough to remove.
~ Some records shrink. A lot.
~ Not all records are made the same. I prefer the thinner ones.
~ If left in oven for a really long time, the vinyl stretches down, which I liked.
Warning: There are 11 pictures behind the cut. I went a little crazy and I'm not done yet. Now all I have to do is figure out what to do with them.
