magnetic poetry
May. 18th, 2004 12:10 pmso, my boyfriend and i will be sharing our two month anniversary next monday (two months isn't a lot, i know, but we like to celebrate every month). i was absolutely stumped on what to make for him, and then yesterday i was riding around with my mother and it came to me, so i decided i'd share it with you.
gift: magnetic poetry picture frame
items used to make it:
romantic magnetic poetry kit from barnes and noble- about $20
8 x 10 black picture frame from walmart - $2.50
2" sponge brush from walmart - $.79 each
8 x 10 magnet board from walmart - about $3
folk art red paint from walmart - about $.87
5x7 picture of us
how i made it:
- i painted the magnet board red first. i think i put about 8 coats on it to make sure i had it covered. obviously i used the sponge brush to do this. it was pretty fun but i got paint all over me.
- after the paint dried i put the picture on it and hung it by the little poem i wrote him with the magnetic words. i put all the extra magnets on the back of the magnet board so we would be able to write little poems together whenever we wanted to.
- i took out the glass in the picture frame, and i put the magnet board inside of it. then i closed up the back of the frame and it was all set up.
at this point i was finished. it was pretty easy to do and i was satisfied with it.
the image is centered, but the shadows make it look kind of funny. so, sorry about that.
