first crochet project

craftgrrli found this "simple" shawl pattern, so i thought i'd give it a shot.
the first several rows looked perfect, but the longer it got, the more narrow it became. i followed the instructions - 2 ch, turn around. so i can't figure out what i'm doing wrong.
any brilliant suggestions? i'll love you forever.
