Whew! I finished a little bag tonight. Kind of a semi-formal evening bag. It's adorable. It's got an oriental feel to it due to the fabric and the shape, which is reminiscent of a flat Chinese take-out box. It all started with the tassles.

I was going through my boxes of fabric remnants when I came across this cute piece of 4 tassles. I put them to the side to find something to go with it. The fabrics I used in this bag are what I found.

The tassle piece is only 3.25" long, not wide enough for a bag. So, I cut out a shape with a wider top than bottom and this is how it turned out. The cut-out fabric measures 4" wide on the bottom, 6.5" wide on the top, and about 7" tall. I sewed most everything with 1/4" seams. Minus the tassels and the strap, the dimensions are 3.5" wide on bottom, 5.5" wide on top, and about 6" tall. The strap is about 20" long, but it started out at about 21" long.

Oddly, putting the pocket in was the most time consuming part of the whole project. But I'm glad I took the time because those little pockets are so handy.

The only thing I wish I would have done was to sew both sides of the strap. I only sewed the open side closed. It would probably look better if I had sewed the folded side as well.
