Screen printing in detail... can it be done?

Howdy :)

Well, my girlfriend and I learned to silkscreen and did a couple of shirts with this tutorial as a guide, and they turned out great. But, the images we printed were very thick-lined, large-scale cartoony-things. In other words, there weren't really any fine details.

Now I'd like to do some things a little more detailed, but I'm afraid I can't make it as crisp/clear as I want to with just the glue and the paintbrush. Are there any tips you guys have to get detailed images to print correctly? Is it even possible?
