Tools:
Screwdriver
Drill w/ a small bit
Brush

Main Supplies:
Decoupage Sealant (lots of different options here)
Cigarbox (can be either wooden or carboard, but wooden is best) - can be found at cigar shops (usually cheapest), cigar bars, craft stores, etc.
Handle (can be a drawer pull, an actual purse handle, heavy duty wire covered in large beads) - can be found at hardware stores, antique shops, 2nd hand stores, etc.
Closure (can be a lock closure or a box closure) - can be found at hardware stores, craft stores, etc.

Optional Supplies:
Hinges (can be small furniture hinges, small door hinges, etc.) - can be found in hardware stores, antique shops, craft supply stores, etc.
Corner caps used on square box corners (can be for furniture or doors) - can be found in hardward stores, craft supply stores, etc.
Flocked paper
Decorative paper (origami, scrapbook paper, mulberry, tissue paper, etc)
Decorative elements (patches, stickers, buttons, mini picture frames, pressed flowers, etc.) - can be found in the card making section, scrapbooking section, etc.
Ribbon
Instant Coffee

Directions:
1. Take off any existing hardware.
2. Smooth any rough spots if your box is wooden.
3. (Optional) If your box is wooden & you want to "stain" it, make a paste using the instant coffee & water. Use this paste to "paint" the box. Then wipe excess off. Leave to dry overnight.
4. (Optional) Glue flocked paper inside purse.
5. Paint down a layer of sealant. Leave to dry until tacky.
6. Put down base "paper" if you don't want the wood to show through. Ripped & then layered mulberry or tissue looks wonderful.
7. Paint down another layer of sealant. Leave to dry or continue once tacky.
8. Put down second layer of papers or any 2-D elements.
9. Paint down another layer of sealant. Leave to dry or continue once tacky.
10. Repeat 8 & 9 as needed.
11. (Optional) Coat any 3-D elements with sealant. Let dry.
12. (Optional) Coat back of elements with sealant again and place on box. Coat with layer of sealant. Let dry.
13. Paint down another layer of sealant over whole box. Leave to dry overnight.
14. (Optional) Attach hinges, using drill to drill holes for screws and then use screwdriver to tighten down. This is one of the most important parts & will be half of what determines how well your box closes.
15. (Optional) Glue down corner caps. If they have screw options, drill holes for screws once glue has at least partially set. Screw down.
16. Place closure on box, use drill to drill holes & screwdriver to tighten down screws. This is the second half of the important part. This will also make or break your purse.
17a. If you are using a drawer pull, drill holes for handle. Attach handle as you would a drawer pull.
17b. If you are using a purse handle, follow the included directions.
17c. If using wire, start by drilling a hole. Put a washer down. Slide one end of the wire through. Put another washer down. Glue a bead on the end of the wire. Clip the wire end & file it down so it isn't sharp. Repeat the process on the other side.
18. (Optional) Tie your ribbon onto one side of the handle.
19. (Definitely not optional)Take a pic of it & post it to [livejournal.com profile] craftgrrl or as a comment to my LJ ([livejournal.com profile] feline) so I can see.
20. (Definitely not optional)Put your wallet inside & take your new fabulicious & original purse out for a night on the town!
