[identity profile] sick-n-wired.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] craftgrrl
Hello, my name is Shanen and I've been lurking for a long time here. I wanted my first post to be a wonderful one filled with all kinds of cool crafty stuff I've done, but I have yet to finisf any of it and have a major problem.

You see, I am screening myself a shirt. I'm cheap so I'm using acrylic mixed with fabric medium. It's on a black shirt.

So I plopped down the screen, smushed the paint all through and removed the screen...

The paint didn't take at all. Like, it went through the screen, but seems to have just soaked into the shirt, giving me a faded, washed out pink color. Which is not what I want. I want it nice and bright and solid. Am I doing something wrong? I went over it with a paintbrush, but I don't want to have to do that every time I screen something, it's kinda a pain in the butt.

I really should start testing on fabric other than muslin, the screens all looked fantastic when I tested them, but once on the shirt, they hate me. And I've put so much work and money into this shirt, I'd hate for it to be a waste (It's got 3 levels of color and I couldn't get the screens to line up right so I had to keep redoing them, then my cat ate one and it was just a pain.)

Can anybody help me? I promise to bring pictures next time I post.
