clear sealer like contact paper that's easier to use?

I'm looking for something to use as a clear sealer for paper.  I'd like to use contact paper (i want to give the paper more durability) but it's time consuming and I'm not perfect at getting all the little bubbles out!  I tried using matte mod podge which gave it a nice look and feel but still wasn't as strong as i'd like.  I thought about laminating but that's too strong.  Any ideas??
