making shoes?

For the longest time, I've wanted a pair of basic black Chinese slippers, something along the lines of these. I've looked at websites but could never find any large enough for me-- I wear a US women's 12, which translates to a European 43. Do you think it would be easy enough to just make the shoes myself? I don't have any experience at all, which doesn't help a whole bunch, but if you craft-experienced people think it might be worth a shot, I could research and see what exactly I'd need to make the shoes. Thanks a whole bunch! :)
