Leather stuff!
Sep. 13th, 2004 02:04 amNever posted here...so here's what I make!
These were the second try. The first ones i made were gold hearts with red that was dripping, not flaming. I reversed it because I decided gold hearts look corny, and flames are cool. I like the heart "foot pads" on the botton as well. That was one of those mid-night spasmatic bursts of creativity. I guess hearts aren't exactly that creative, but I've been going nuts with sewing flames lately.

this purse has the flaming heart on either side in contrasting colors. I really wanted to make a leopard print purse, but all the leopard leather (which is actually dyed calf-skin, so don't worry...or worry if you like cows. whatever) Anyway...all the leopard leather was in shreds so I had to patch it together...which kinda looks interesting..I suppose. It's fuzzy and I like it. It has snaps to close.
Ok, these shoes were totally improv. I just cut the leather and pieced it together, then in the end they were a little too baggy so I put the lace, and it looks cute i suppose. The bottom is perhaps my favorite part. It looks so bizzare, with the sharp toes, like something you'd see in a cartoon. haha. I like it.
These are easy to make, and I'm considering making them for the public. Seriously, it's a pouch for stamps. I made it because I actually wanted a place to put stamps, besides those ugly books.
This clutch was also improv. I made a basic pattern, but I didn't have the flap figured out. It has a snap to close. I don't like the way this holds things I need to design purses to hold things, not to be flat. they look great flat, but shitty with lumpy things in them.
Ok..these were the basic pattern for the rest of the shoes I made. I began the pattern by tracing my foot, and I got a last from my dad, which is a wooden model of a foot. and so I fit the leather around that..I must have spent five house fucking with it before I got it right.
this is thick, mature cow skin, so the fuzz is rough. But It still looks cool. This was super duper easy to make. Just sew twice and put the snap on. It's one of the simplest+best things I've designed.
Anyway, I hope these pics turned out for you. if not go to www.freewebs.com/dimova/photos/photos.html
I also made 24 coasters, just for practice stiching. I probably sewed 50 flames.
I don't have pics of the coasters because I gave them away/ they're under cups, but I made cloud and hill coasters, gold elephant on black suede coasters, bleeding hearts and flaming hearts of multiple colors, red gold silver white.
I know it's stupid to make suede coasters..seeing as suede gets messed up when it gets wet.
but I don't care!
