I am starting up a type of craft/diy group in my city Rochester, NY, if any of you live close to the area you can sign up..otherwise I just thought this might be something you would want to start around your area.

This is the e-mail I sent out ..




Okay, so everyone I am e-mailing- you gave me your e-mail and I am going to save it as a type of list so I can send newsletters out. If you need your email changed to a different one or want to be taken off the list, just let me know.

First things first I supposed.. although sorry if this is just mumble jumble..

We need a name. I don't know what you think about 'DIY ROCHESTER' ? If anyone has suggestions let me know. A name will make things better and more organized. I plan on making flyers and putting them up around places after we get a name to get more people who would be interested in this group. I'll send a copy of it to you guys incase you want to print some out and hang them up places..around your school, coffee shops, craft stores..etc.

Incase you didn't understand the livejournal post completely.. I'm going to try and be more detailed here:

A group of people will meet either once a week or once every 2 weeks- depends on my schedule basically or if I get other people who want to be more involved then just participating in making things (more on this later) Then, the group could meet more often. I would pick out a craft idea or get ideas from others.. There will be Project Leaders, one of the job titles for our group. Project leaders are people who know the craft better than others and would be able to teach it. Everyone will buy/bring their own supplies ( A list of supplies needed would be emailed out before the meeting so you'd have time to get them) Or if people have extra supplies and can share, that would work too. We'd meet probably in a number of different places depending on whatever works. I think peoples houses would be the best option. If anyone is willing to let us meet at their home a certain week- just let me know.

So basically a newsletter type thing will be mailed out and tell of the project for that week..when/where/what to buy.. and you can decide if you want to go or not. You would email back if you know you're definitely going so we could keep track of the number of people.

Now i think i described that pretty well..if anyone has questions, just write back.

Now on to the job titles:

If you want to do one of these jobs, have the time for it, just email me back.

Coordinators- people in charge of finding places to meet, keep track of how many people will be there, help set up area we meet at so that it suits the needs of the craft to be done

Ideas Manager (part of project leader too)- Come up with ideas of things to make, print out/copy paper with instructions for people, make list of possible supplies needed/where to buy them

Project Leaders- Just about everyone can be a project leader of a certain craft, If you know how to sew for example, you'd be a Project leader of sewing. If you want to be a project leader, you would be in charge of teaching that craft/skill, telling us what supplies we need, etc. There will hopefully be more than one project leader at each meeting.

keep in mind- being a project leader isn't like being a teacher in front of a class, more likely you'd go around and just help people out..it will be a lot more relaxed for all of you who don't like talking in front of a lot of people.

So now that i think i covered pretty much all that needs to be covered right now, can everyone email me back with a little info about themselves so I have an idea of the people who want to be involved/ also please e-mail me with what craft you are particularly good at.. or even if you know a little, for example- sewing- beginner, candle making- advanced.. etc. And if you'd like to be a project manager of that!.
