help me fix my sewing machine.
Oct. 17th, 2004 09:24 pmhas anybody ever ripped apart their sewing machine and/or bobbin area?
okay, so posting pictures and asking a question doesn't really work, so here's the question in all its bareness.
my sewing machine broke.
i had four REALLY AWESOME bags in the making and it konked out. first the dial that you adjust the stitch length started moving and making a noise when i sewed, and every once in a while the stitching would jam up - there'd be a whole bunch of top thread all tangled underneath the fabric and in the bobbin area. i oiled it, then took it apart and there were really stain-y black flecks all over the bottom - like dried grease - can i buy grease for a greasy area between what looks like a fan and copper wire? i couldn't figure out what was wrong with. so now it's back together and all the top thread gets all jammed in the bobbin area. it seems to get stuck in there...help!!!! and NOW, the top thread doesn't even pick up the bobbin thread any more. can i fix this by myself?
Edit: I just took apart the bobbin area because it just wasn't working, so how much worse could i do. i'm thinking there's a proper way to put the bobbin holder area back IN, does this have to do with messing up the timing?
