Nov. 19th, 2004 12:43 pmI made melt and pour soap for the first time a la martha. It is striped red and white with peppermint oil for xmas gifts. (i.e. i laid each layer separately, let dry 20 minutes, scored, then poured next layer, repeated). When it was done drying (overnight) it wouldn't pop out of the loaf pan, so I had to freeze it. It then came right out, and today I went to slice it. My problem is this: when I sliced it up, some of the stripes came apart.
a) is there anything i can to do piece them back together short of using the soap?
b) do you think it might have happened because i had to freeze the soap to get it out of the pan? there were 2 different kinds; goat's milk and glycerine-- could that be it?
Any help is much appreciated! I still have 2 batches to make and I'd like them to be a bit more successful. I'm thinking this time I'll just do each soap separately in little cupcake pans instead, to avoid that.
