My mom is able to rock a fashion scarf (ascot) better than any woman I know. So for her birthday I made her this one with love. I bought a yard of this heavy sheer fabric at Joanns when it was on sale, and was able to make two wider ascots, and two thinner ones. I am planning on giving the other bigger one to a family friend for Christmas, and will keep a smaller one for myself. Goodness knows what will come of the last one.

The challenge with working with thinner, sheerer fabrics is cutting it in a reasonably even way. Oh, and sliding it through the serger isn't terribly easy either, as it moves all over the place. Regardless though, it came out well and I am pleased. I used your basic rolled hem stitch with black thread.

A closeup of the scarf fabric draped over a chair. Little brightly colored high heels on a black background. Adorable!
