Question

I found these great seashells that I want to make into earrings, but I've never done anything like that before. They already have holes in them, naturally, so I won't have a problem with that, but I was wondering if anybody could answer two things for me:

1. What's a good way to varnish or protect the seashells? Clear nail polish? Watered-down glue?

2. Where can I find the hanging earring hooks? There's a Michael's and a Jo-Ann's nearby but I can't easily get to a Pearl until break is over and I get back to my dorm.
