CD craft question

craftgrrldoes anyone know how i can go about dying the shiny side of a cd? i want to dye it so it's different colors but it's still shiny. kind of like how some are blue and some are just plain silver, except i want to do green and pink and purple etc. the only thing i could think of was food coloring but i wasnt sure it would work so i just wanted to double check to see if anyone has done this before.
