You may remember my post from last month about the Valentine's "first aid kit" I was planning to make my boyfriend. Well, I'm finished and have an abundance of photos that span the project from beginning to end -- they are placed in appropriate categories with my notes and a materials list (with the prices of each material, if applicable).
*Please note: Some of the material may not be appropriate for younger viewers.
The Box

These are the materials I would use for the box (after I had painted it in pearly white paint), minus the metallic red paint I had forgotten to buy.

These are the nurse pictures I found on the internet, printed on photo paper, and cut out.

The box after being given its red trim and having the images securely glued on.

The inside of the box after I painted it with the red paint (I decided against using fabric, which was my original idea). This turned out *beautifully*, I have lots of love for this paint. If you are curious, it is Plaid's "FolkArt Acrylic Paint" in "Metallic Bright Red". It's gorgeous in the light. <3

The top of the box.

Another photo of the top of the box, but it also shows the finished front.

The inside lid of the box. I doubt you can make it out in this cropped version of the photo, but it's an excerpt of a poem found in Love Songs to Krishna. Odd inclusion? Probably. ;)

The inside bottom of the box. I ended up removing the stickers that spell "ooh", which made it look a lot more simple (more of a focus on the figure) and not cluttered with text.
Materials:
*Box ($4.99 at Michael's)
*Paint (FolkLore Pearl White and Metallic Bright red -- $.88; DecoArt Craft Twinkles in Crystal -- $1.79)
*Hospital stickers (Around $1.79 for a two-sheet pack at Michael's)
*Decoupage sealer (Approximately $4.59 for a spray can)
*Photo paper (Free; I had some lying around)
*Elmer's Glue stuff...with glitter and heart-shaped confetti (Free; I bought it for the same boyfriend's Valentine's present two years ago)
**Note: The stickers did not adhere very well to the painted box, so I used glue to make them stay (which defeats the purpose of buying stickers, yes?).
The Pills/Pill Bottles

The materials for the "medicine". I actually ended up revising some this. I decided to put the "naughty", red pills in one bottle and the "nice" pills in another smaller bottle, for variety. My father is often on medication and we have many, many spare pill bottles lying around doing nothing, so this was a good idea. I ended up getting the gelatin capsules at my local health food store (Manna Grocery; Tuscaloosa, Alabama) for 3 cents a piece -- I was thrilled since the pharmacy wanted to charge me $27 for 100, and GNC wanted $20 for 500. I used the "00" size.
I also chose to print my messages on sheets of vellum I bought at Michael's -- I liked the translucent quality, plus I thought it would hold up better over time and use. I had better luck printing on the red sheet than on the white, swirly one, by the way.

This is the completed "nice" bottle. I played with both MS Paint and my photo manipulation program to make the label -- which looks EXACTLY like my local pharmacy's labels. I printed them on plain white copy paper and "laminated" it to the bottle with some wide, clear packing tape I had lying around -- worked wonderfully.
This one says "Take one capsule as needed for relief of boredom, unhappiness, or heartburn."

This is the front of the completed "naughty" bottle.
The text reads, "Take one capsule as needed for relief of naughty bodily desires." Couldn't be clearer with that message, eh?

This is the side of the "naughty" bottle -- the warning labels. They say:
May be taken with alcohol.
May be taken with food.
May cause sexual side-effects.
Not very creative, I know.

Here are the two medicine bottles sitting on top of the finished box (I used the decoupage sealant spray to make it feel smooth and keep things from falling off; see how shiny?) -- just to give an idea of how they relate to each other in size (as well as to the box).
I just realized that I didn't take any pictures of the actual filled pills, so if anyone would like to see, leave me a comment and I would gladly take pictures of them.
Materials:
*Gelatin capsules ($.03 each -- $6.48, after tax, for 200, though I didn't use nearly that many)
*Four vellum sheets (Michael's; $.59 per sheet)
*Two empty pill bottles (free; but a pain in the ass to get the pharmacy's adhesive stickers off the bottles)
*Printer paper (free; one or two sheets)
*Clear, wide packing tape (free -- lying around the house)
The Accessories

Here is everything I bought to go INSIDE the box (minus the card and the Reese's cups). I was a bit concerned when I put everything down and saw the sheer quantity of what I had...
Materials:
*Warming Massage Lotion in "Hot Wild Cherry" ($7.99 at Spencer Gifts)
*Wet Kiwi-Strawberry flavored lube ($8.99 at Spencer Gifts)
*A mini-book of sexual positions and such ($6.95 at Spencer Gifts)
*Three boxes of condoms (which caused my most interesting Walmart experience yet.. $5.?? for the two boxes of Trojans and $2.99 for the 3-pack of Inspiral)
*A pair of "love dice" (from Michael's for $1.99)
*A box of 16 rose-scented tea lights ($2.88 at Walmart)
*A little nightie (I was running a bit low on cash around this time, so I got this at Walmart for $12.95 -- and it matches my "red and white" theme.)
*A card (Hallmark; $3.79)
*Reese's cups (Walmart; $2.96)
*The mix cd I made (Free; see the bottom of this post for the track listing -- thanks to everyone who contributed, by the way; I couldn't have done it without you.)
Et VoilĂ

The finished product. How I got all of that to fit, I have no idea. I rock at packing, apparently. xD
Miscellaneous
Mix cd track listing:
1) Jem, "Come On Closer"
2) Basement Jaxx, "Get Me Off"
3) Peaches, "Fuck the Pain Away"
4) Christina Aguilera, "Get Mine, Get Yours"
5) Nine Inch Nails, "Get Down Make Love"
6) Melissa Ferrick, "Drive"
7) Tori Amos, "Cruel"
8) Portishead, "Glory Box"
9) Paula Cole, "Feeling Love"
10) Jack Off Jill (Genitorturers?), "I Touch Myself"
11) Ashlee Simpson, "La La"
12) Foo Fighters, "Darling Nikki" (Yes, I like this version better than the Prince one, in the context of this cd..Don't hit me.)
13) Nine Inch Nails, "Closer"
14) Bush, "Mouth"
15) Lords of Acid, "Slave to Love"
16) Kidney Thieves, "Spank"
17) The Bloodhound Gang, "The Bad Touch" (Because my boyfriend and I still love this song so much, I thought it'd be a cute and funny way to end the cd.)
Believe it or not, the whole thing works really well thematically and transitionally. I tried to organize it to where the songs fit into groups with similar themes or moods. I like it. :)
If you have any questions, please let me know.
