I've been doing some knitting and crocheting, but I'll looking to expand my horizon and start sewing. Problem: no machine. Some lady at Joann's told me that Viking is the best..but I'm not sure. What would you recommend? I'd like to buy one this weekend...so much fabric, no machine.

Ah yes, it may be important to know what I want to do with it.

Mainly sew clothing, using vinyl occasionally, and I'd like to be able to do a bit of quilting. Embroidery abilities would be cool, but not necessary.

Ideas? What's your favorite machine? Why?
