Acrylic paint + corkboar = ??

I bought a corkboard and I don't want it the boring brown. If I use my acrylic paint, will it absorb (like with foam board) into the cork material? If not will it fade or wipe off on papers?

*Note, I bought the corkboard for the sole purpose of displaying all the marble pushpins (alternative to magnets) that I've made. I was sick of them hiding in a box!
