image transfer question

hi.

I just bought a Chartpak blender pen (the kind filled with xylene) to do image transfers on t-shirts. before I do, does anyone have any pointers/suggestions for me? do I need to burnish it with a roller or a spoon or something after I apply the chemical? will it eat through the fabric? (that would be bad.) if so, do I wash it off or something? should I heat set it?
