If you're a broke art school student and need to get some sort of board to paint on... Seek out the local timbermen. I needed something to paint on for school, in a rather large format. I batted my eyes at the local woodshop, and they gave me their cut-offs and told me to help myself. They were all at least 200cmx50cm.

I got my board- they even cut it up for me in the appropriate size (70x100cm), and then I grounded the MDF board with leftover white emulsion that I'd got for free from the paint shop.

Male workers are your friends. :)

Hanging in the classroom. Gives you an idea about the size. It looks quite small, actually, but trust me. When I had to carry it back and forth every day for a week and a half (I commute, so I take three different buses and walk a small distance every day to get to college), it really did not seem small. :P It's a little bigger than A1 format.

I'm in no shape or form a good painter, drawing and sculpting is more my cup of tea.
In fact, this is my first acrylic painting, so I'm quite please with how it turned out and even more pleased with how much fun I had with working with it. :)
