[identity profile] webmyrcury.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] craftgrrl
Hello all! Its my first time posting here, just joined yesterday. You all are extremely creative people - so far this is the most active community I've ever joined - SO many posts every day! And it really gets my creative wheels turning, seeing the things you all do. Keep up the great work!

As for me, well, I'm 22 years old, and have been crafting ever since I was a kid. My grandmother used to sit with me and show me how to collage bits of fabric onto paper, and later, how to do plastic canvas ornaments and such. From there, I taught myself how to make all sorts of beaded jewelry, and my biggest thing for a long while was making Dreamcatchers. They were/are so much fun to make! And now, I just try to do whatever comes to mind, or whatever I'm inspired to do, by things I see. I enjoy making crafty things for friends and family, and quite often will opt for those things instead of buying presents at holidays and such. ^_^

This is a Halloween tree that my mom and I dreamed up and created. We bought a purple tinsel tree and spraypainted it mostly black, with some of the shiny purple still showing here and there. I made a string of bead garland for around it, as well as many little plastic bats on wires which are wrapped around the branches so they look like they're flying off. I made bunches of little ornaments with beads and found objects like plastic skulls, pumpkins, and bats. We added on a bunch of rubber/plastic bugs here and there, different things... I also hang my collection of halloween earrings on it... til I want to wear them, then I just pull them off. ^_^

Here is my first (practice) attempt at making a beaded dragonfly. I don't like the way the body looks, because its made of plastic beads, but I thought the wings looked really nice. The real charm to it, I think, is the little Peridot gem in a gold setting, which rests on its back, on the base of the wings. I have tons of those - they're from a bracelet I had which fell apart. I kinda collect little bits and bobs like that, jewelry findings...

I made another one of these, all shades of blue and silver, with wings similar to the first one, but gave that one to a friend and forgot to take a picture first... But here's the last one I did: All silver beads, with some seed beads in the wings, different shades of blue and white. They're held together with fine gauge silvery craft wire, btw.

And then tonight, I made a simple beaded bracelet with a 3-daisy chain in the center, for my sister:

I've got tons of new projects in mind, and will post those as they come up! :)
