A Happy Accident
Dec. 2nd, 2005 01:36 amWow, I love when I discover oddly-crafty ideas completely by accident.
Recently, my flatmates and I purchased 9 blue and clear candle holders and some simple white votives for our one mate who celebrates Chanukah to decorate the flat with. To accent the pieces, I picked up some scented oil that you would use in an oil burner and added it to the holders. So a few days passed, we admired the candles from afar (they still need to be lit for the 8 nights).
Tonight, however, after gazing at the snow (and praying for class cancellations), another mate noticed something. She picked up one of the votives, and oddly enough, the top half is now displaying a faded blue that matches the same oils I added 4 or so nights ago! The effect is very cool, and even better, not at all hard on the wallet.
I'm not sure how the oil will effect burning them (I plan to test it out), but now we have bi-color, scented candles for the holidays! I plan to make some red and green ones for back home.
Just wanted to share this with you all. ^^
