glass, metal, soldering?

I've checked the FAQs on glass and metal, but can't find anything about using that metal tape stuff or soldering glass. I've just received this beautiful stainglass desk set (soldered), and I've always admired the pressed flowers that are set between glass tiles that are held with the tape stuff (in copper or silver).

So, one, what is this 'metal tape stuff' and where can I find it?

Two, has anyone here worked with stainglass and soldering? How difficult (and expensive) is it to get into this?

Any basic advice or recommendations?
