i spent much of this weekend creating this memo board for my little sister. the image is inspired by the artwork featured on the album cover from my favorite band, the academy is.... i omitted a few of the details including the deer since my hands are not steady enough for minor detail. the painting was created with acrylic paint on a canvas measuring 16 x 20. prior to painting, i covered the canvas with a layer of wall compound, which is normally used to repair walls before paint is applied. the wall compound provides a much better painting surface than the plain canvas, and gives the paint a very nice texture. i've learned that it is best to apply some sort of sealer onto the canvas upon completion of the project since it lessens the risk of cracks.

thanks for looking. :)
