Feb. 7th, 2006 02:07 amWell here it is! I'm finally posting here. I just hate uploading and resizing pictures, it's such a task, it seems. But I would like to show you the stuff I make, and the stuff I never get right.
First the knits, since I seem to be better at those.

My mess of yarn, haha.

This is a scarflette made with a vintage button of my grandma's.

Note that the shirt can also be considered something I'm including here. I made it last year ... it's a stencil for the band The Velvet Teen.

I think this is the most professionally crafted things I've made, or at least the cleanest. It's inSANEly soft. Unfortunately, it's not really my style -- that and it's also REALLY hot here in south Texas, and very warm in the winter months. So I'm looking around for someone to give it to.

This is what it looks like on -- forgive me, I'm really sick with a cold, and I'm up pretty late on a school night, hah. That's why my eyes are all red.

This is probably the only thing I've sewed that I actually use. It's the only thing that's come out decently professional enough for me to be proud of.

See it yet?

It's a roll for my needles. :)

The thing with me and sewing, is that I always get so far, and on usually the *very last step* I do something stupid and absent minded (probably on account of my dyscalculia) and I never, ever finish right. Most of these things end up ruined and lost somewhere around the house. ... So as you see here, it's a perfectly normal looking striped tote with cute flowers, made out of a shirt. Not really my style, but someone will like it.

Until of course, my mess-up. :(

Can you tell what I did?

This was tonight's tragedy. It was supposed to be a gift for a friend. And I was loving it so much, that I was about to keep it, haha.

Until my straps got attatched all ugly ...

... and my zipper broke and the little handle thing fell off. (I sewed it at the end so it wouldn't fall off, but apparently, it got cut off again under the sewing needle, and when I tried to close it, it slipped off.) So .... I have no idea what to do with this, but it's pretty much not usable. And I'm really sad about it too. I was having a terrible day, and this project was supposed to be the bright spot in it. :/
Does anyone have any tips on making professional looking bags and totes, and on *not* messing up? Blah!
