guitar strings

my boyfriend has been playing guitar for a few years, and has a shoe box filled with broken guitar strings. the bassist in his band has 2 boxes. do any of you crafty kids know that i could do with these? i want to make something that can benefit the band in some way (sell stuff made out of them at shows for gas/food money)
someone told me about bracelets, but not how they were made, or what they looked like.
if anyone can help, id appreciate it.
im not allowed to buy any more yarn.. adn this was taken last year.. the yarn has exploded and taken over hte floor. (as did the tide.. there was a sale apparently)
