Felting advice

craftgrrlI have some beautiful wool destined for felting (and a project to go along with). And I have heard people preaching hand-felting, and machine felting... Which do you all think is better? (and how does one felt properly?) My end project is needle/chopstick holders, so basically making a felted testube. Help?
