My husband and I were given some furniture.
So, since it didn't match our other stuff,
we refurnished it. I'm showing the before and after pictures,
and writing about the process of refurnishing them.

THE PROCESS:
we sanded down the cabinet (well, JD sanded a little. I pretty much redid the cabinet on my own) Took off the knobs and hinges. Then we went out and bought trim, handles, piano hinges, stain, wood puddy, primer, brushes, sponges, a saw, nails, and CHALKBOARD PAINT. I went over the holes with wood puddy. Then I primed and painted the doors with chalkboard paint. After that I put on the trim (I had to cut the pieces at 45 degree angles to fit) then I nailed them on. THEN I covered the chalk board part with masking tape and stained the trim. After I finished the doors I stained the cabinet. Then I put the hinges and handles on the doors and put them on. The doors were warped a little and closed funny so we put magnets in there too. And voila! A cabinet with chalkboard doors to write notes on. (it's perfect height for when we have kids and they can draw on it)

We bought a cute little box to put the chalk and eraser in:

THE PROCESS: We basically just sanded this down and stained it. Not as much of a "process" as the cabinet was! lol. Anyway, it's now our coffee table, and it works great to put movies and cd's in. We put magazines on one side, and movies/dvds/cd's on the other side. =)
