For Easter this year, we dyed our eggs using natural plant products. We used tumeric, red cabbage, yellow and red onion skins, spinach, and grape juice. This is what we started out with:

We gathered a good bit of information from here: http://chemistry.about.com/library/weekly/aa042003a.htm?terms=natural+dye+easter+eggs
But you can find a ton of information on other sites too if you are interested.

This color was my favorite result. And it came from the yellow onion skins mixed with the red onion skins and little bit of tumeric. It was an experiment on my part but it was our favorite. I only did two though. They are the red ones that didn't have any splotches (if you look at the picture of all of them). The other red ones were from the yellow onion skins only.

It was a lot of fun and I think we'll be doing it again next year. My 3 year old had a blast too! The red cabbage gave us the light/brighter blues by the way and the darker blues came from the grape juice. Green from the spinach was the only one that really didn't turn out that great. To get green, I ended up dipping the eggs in the dyes that were yellow and blue.
