so, i have these olive green gap stretch pants which i love but which, sadly, were handed down to me and therefore do not fit perfectly, so i would like to alter them. i have never done this before, so i'm looking for advice.

the pants are basically just too long, and they aren't the kind of pants i can just cuff up or hem without making them look ridiculous. it occured to me the other day, while browsing through the new victoria's secret catalogue, that they would like fabulous if they became these:

now, i've altered t-shirts some. i've sewn my own cloth pads. i've patched jeans, and i've hemmed things. once, i made a patchwork skirt, with a lot of help from my mother. this is the extent of my experience. such a thing seems pretty straightforward (cut off the pants a bit longer than i want and hem them) but i'm not sure how to achieve the thick cuff look of these cropped pants, and i also want to make sure i don't mess this up.

so, any advice on cuffs or other general things to watch out for with a project such as this? many thanks!
