A Houndstooth Birthday Purse
Jun. 15th, 2006 12:44 amI have been in a creative slump. I haven't sewn anything since October when I made Halloween costumes. Last semester of school sucked the life out of me. All I ever wanted to do is sleep and sleep and sleep some more! No time for sewing or knitting or anything! Now it is summer and finally I got inspiration from some houndstooth fabric I bought at least six months ago.
One of my best friends has her birthday on Friday and she is always looking for a purse large enough to carry all of her knitting projects and yarn. This purse is definitely big enough. TOO BIG.

Houndstooth cotton exterior. It is lined with a light olive green cotton and of course I used interfacing throughout the bag. I think it is about 23 inches wide and 17 inches deep.

Gun appliques made out of navy blue canvas and then glued on with YES! paste. I would've probably used sticky felt if I had some around...but YES! paste works with everything.

The ribbon closure

The inside. There is one giant pocket. I know for a fact that my friend will never actually use the pockets if I had taken the time to make individual pockets to hold specific things. haha. It is currently holding a knitting book(on the very bottom) and eight skeins of yarn. Also, this is a wonderful picture of my now, very messy sewing and craft desk.

A little label I made with printable shrinky dink. <3 It took a lot of practice! haha.
