Scouts and craftyness
Aug. 3rd, 2006 09:52 amIf any of you have had experience with Scouts, you'll know that they routinely go camping and absolutely love dressing up (have you seen the uniforms?!) - sometimes they even combine the two! That's how my father - Scout Unit Leader of my town - and my little sister - a Cubscout - ended up badgering my mam and me a week before Cubcamp, in need of outfits and props. The theme for the camp this year was something about Magic and their campsite was going to be Camelot, so we created

So called because the town we live in has a beautiful Round Tower dating back to when all those mad Vikings attacked Ireland to steal from the Monasteries.
My mam made the costumes while I made the shields and painted them with our family crest. Unfortunately, you can't see the scabbard my dad made himself, which leads on to the next part of the craftyness...
I made a bag for college! From the remnants of the leather he made the scabbard from, which was just sitting around the house gathering dust and angry glances from my mam.
Why, you ask? Well, not for any reason, particularly, I just thought it might be fun. And it was, but my hands got tired from punching holes >_< Before we all go on to goo and gaa (or possibly cringe), I want to say thank you to the lovely
fraile, who gave me advice on all things leathery.
Please keep in mind that I've never used leather before at all!

It's just a simple messenger bag shape with a front flap, but I love it!
