[Learning not to fear the Machine]
Feb. 3rd, 2003 07:09 amHello! I'm also a lurker coming out of my shell - that seems to be common around here! Hee! Well i recently bought a mini seweing machine, because I don't plan on doing any heavy duty sewing with it, just doll clothes and general hemming.
I had always watched my aunt sew and my mother, and they always made it look so harmless and easy. This small machine scared the pee out of me! It is loud for one thing and snatches the fabric right out of my fingers! *laughs!* I did manage to get a handle on my fear and have been practicing on a scrap of cloth. Turning seems to be especially troublesome! I managed to make some loopty-loops before unplugging the machine to make this post. My hands are still shaking though because it frightened me so bad. I just didn't expect it to be that way! *lol!*
I plan on making myself some pillows sometime too. I am bound to post pictures from the results of my experiments with the mini-sewing machine. ^.^
Did anyone else ever experience a fright when they first tried a sewing machine?
