Crocheter I'm not, but I wanted so badly to make a cell phone case.  What turned out I am pretty excited about but the directions threw me.  I need some guidance because I don't know how I got there and if I'll be able to make another.

So the directions are based loosely on this by Lynn Szwalkiewicz.  And I mean loosely because after the first "chain six then 2 sc in second chain from hook, (sc in next chain) 4 times, 2 sc in next chain" I was lost because you actually need to chain 7.  Then I tried to follow the directions after that up to the 4th row, but it seemed off.  So then I just single stitched without joining until the height was where I wanted it to be.  I think I did the strap right.  I added some beads as a button and some crochet decoration.  

If there is anyone that can guide me through the directions, I would really appreciate it because I'd like to feel confident in making it and I think these would make excellent x-mas gifts for my nieces.
