for those of you that have been asking:

the decoupage project went really well. thanks so much for all of your help. we ended up using a variety of supplies...tissue paper, newspaper, magazines, and comic books. the kids enjoyed it, even though they don't typically like art activities. (they tend to prefer academic work.) but it was a break from routine, and i think they appreciated that.

this week, i did the "what's on your mind?" self-portrait. not all of the kids could fully comprehend the idea behind the activity, but i think they enjoyed it nonetheless.

i want to thank you all. you have all been so receptive and helpful, and i am very, very grateful. you kids are swell. :)

p.s. a question. i bought some fancy papery ribbon at a craft store, and i'm wondering how i can turn it into a choker. does anyone have ideas for any easy-to-make clasps? i'm afraid that paper clips or safety pins will eventually tear the material.
