Sep. 21st, 2006 09:18 amI have been busy crafting away in my newly cleaned basement and sewing away on my 10 dollar sewing machine from the local Goodwill. It is amazing how good you feel when you are just making things for the sake of making them!
I got this fabric from a yard sale for one dollar, it's 100% wool and had some old fashioned label on it that said, "Take me to your tailor!" You know it is old. I thought it was really pretty so I covered a yard sale ottoman ($2)

I also covered some pillows, 2 of them I had and 2 of them I bought for 50 cents each.

This is them in action with my denim slipcovers. Please ignore the spotty carpet, thank you kids and doggies! >:(

This is another pillow I made for my Mom. The cover was a sweater I fell in love with at the Salvation Army, but COULD NOT WEAR as the neck was way too tight. I still had to have it for only ONE BUCK! I also got the pillow from Goodwill for 99 cents!

I am always inspired by the bags I see here. I kept saying I wanted to make one, but I never really got around to it, till NOW. I got this fabric a couple of years ago at a yard sale, I think I paid 50 cents for the entire piece and I got enough to make my Mom a housedress and this bag. I made this bag WITHOUT A PATTERN!! I just figured out how big I wanted it (it is about the size of a Rolling Stone magazine) and went for it.

Boy Number 2 holding it up, much to his dismay!

Fully lined with a coordinating pocket, I am so ritzy!

The flap also has 2 pockets for papers and ATM slips!! :D

A friend of mine on LJ is having a baby and doing the room in a safari theme, I saw this fabric at Wally's and it was meant to be!
Group shot of all the gifts, photo album, journal, keepsake box, picture frame (Goodwill again, 39 cents) and a crib light.

Frame, close up

Keepsake box, fot big things like the baby hospital bracelet and stuff like that. I didn't like those things in my baby book as it made it lumpy. I included a bottle to keep a lock of baby's hair from the first haircut.

Journal, just a plain store bought one, simply covered, inside and out.

Inside

My husband bought a box of those silly tap lights and we had them sitting around for about 3 years. I decided to take one apart and covered it. She can put it above the crib so she can check on the baby without having to turn on a lamp or bright light. The fabric lets just the right amount of light through!

Lastly, a cute little baby album for all those special pictures!

Inside

I have several more things in the works. It makes me happy to get back into my crafting now that the basement is CLEAN!!! And not to mention, I have a machine that actually SEWS!!!
