It's a start
Dec. 7th, 2006 02:33 pmMaking all the Christmas decorations for the house this year is going to be a real challenge, but thanks to a few wonderful websites (most especially this one), I may just be able to pull it off without going over my budget of, umm, well, nothing. That's right, I have to make the decorations and there is NO MONEY at all for any supplies. If it's not around the house already, I can't use it. Needless to say, the pile of stuff that would have been thrown out as garbage last week is growing ever larger. My sewing skills are minimal and my crochet skills consist of being able to do a chain stitch. My knitting is pretty good, though, so I have a few more things in mind, but now
Thanks in advance!

This is my paltry and ragged group of five ornaments I've made so far. We've been over the snowflake too many times already, so there are only close ups of the others.

A puffy star painted with acrylics.
Also from the enchanted learning website, this time an icosahedron, painted with acrylics and angel sequin thingies glued on.
This one is really cute in person and one of the easiest so far. It's the octahedron from the enchanted learning website. I used a glue stick to adhere the wrapping paper to a sheet of printer paper before cutting it out, then assembled it per the instructions, but left the flaps on the oputside this time. Muuuuch easier to decorate these before assembling!

My masterpiece so far (as sad as that is) is another puffy star from, you guessed it, enchanted learning. I LOVE that site! Anyway, I neede something a little sturdier, so glue sticked the printout to some light cardboard before painting and assembling and gluing a string of sequins to the edge.
I know none of these are very impressive, but still I am proud of my attempts. At least there will be something to put on the tree. And now that I've gotten the hang of making these things the next sets should look much better.
Does anyone have any suggestions for more ornament making fun? Nothing too complicated or that calls for anything but the most basic of materials, obviously. (God, I hate, hate, HATE being this broke.) This is my paltry and ragged group of five ornaments I've made so far.
