I'm altering a messenger-style bag for a friend's x-mas pressie, and I found some amazing sequin trim that I would like to attach to the strap. I was wondering what the easiest + sturdiest way would be to go about doing this would be. I haven't worked with trims before, and have only done minimal straight line sewing machine (ie: pillows) work. I don't want it to "puff" in the middle, if I were to only sew the sides. I'd really like to get the trim as centered and straight/lined-up with the bag's strap as possible. Mayhaps fabric glue (or would E6000 work?) it first and then sew down the sides? I'm also kinda worried about hitting the sequins with a sewing machine needle... Would hand sewing it be a better choice, and if so, could you recommend a stitch? Any ideas on how to finish off the ends to avoid fraying/sequin explosions? Thank you so much!

(Lj seek doesn't want to play today, and i've scoured the memories/FAQ, so hopefully this is not a redundant question!)
